It happens to many of us! I have been made redundant twice. The first time I was offered a wonderful job by a new company, just as my employer of 20 years was looking for people to accept voluntary redundancy. I took the voluntary option, and just as I left the other company withdrew their offer! After 20 years, I was on the outside, wondering what came next.

The second time a company took me on as a contractor, mined all my knowledge in a certain field, and made me redundant with just 30 minutes notice!

Never again! Now I'm my own boss. I work just the hours I want to work, and no-one can take that away from me. If I work hard, I earn more, if I work less hard, I don't earn less ... it's just that my pay rises come more slowly.

I have no staff, no stock, I work from home with Susan, and I have a wonderful community of colleagues and friends who support me.

And within a year my income from one business alone will equal the pension that I builtup over 20 years with the first company to make me redundant. Within 5 years I expect my monthly income to exceed my annual pension!
